IT Aspirants Pathway to Study and Settle in Ireland

Ireland is a country that offers opportunities for IT professionals and aspirants to study and settle in Ireland by pursuing an IT related course at any of the universities or colleges located there.  ICT sector is a booming sector, and Ireland is home to all the top ICT companies of the world. Most of the top IT multi-national companies have chosen Ireland to establish their European HQs. There is always demand for quality IT professionals who have experience of studying and working abroad. There are two routes to reach Ireland. Route one would be to secure a job. Route two would be the study option. There is low probability of securing a job in Ireland from India.   1. Post Grad Courses option. Completing an analytics post grad course would bolster employment opportunities as this is a growing area across all sectors. Post grad courses offer the student an automatic default work permit (Graduate permit) to allow them to work in Ireland for 12 months with an employer after their course. This can then be extended for a second 12 month period, but most students simply apply for the Critical Skills permit (see details below) during their first year of employment and are then granted this more long term permit.

  1. Direct Route Through Employment. If you choose to seek employment directly, you should monitor the following platforms: Jobs.ie, Irishjobs.ie, LinkedIn, recruitireland.com, jobsireland.ie, and glassdoor where employers tend to advertise direct opportunities. Some agencies will advertise on the behalf of the Company so only the role will appear, just be aware of this.

  1. Target Companies. Ireland has a substantial growing ICT sector. Many larger companies now use Dublin as a HUB for their European or Global HQs and there are many business verticals. (Business, Pharma, Telco, Finance etc).   2. Work Permit. Under the Critical-skills work permit process, please see under which category you would qualify for a work- permit. ICT category (IT Business Analyst, IT Specialist Manager, IT Project/programme manager etc). This is a more stream lined process now but would still require a formal offer and contract as  evidence from an employer before the permit would be processed and  granted.
